Govt terms NSCN (K) statement as misleading and crafted with ulterior political motive

ITANAGAR, Mar 9: Three days after the NSCN (K) called for withdrawal of support by the MLAs and ministers belonging to Tirap and Changlang from the Dorjee Khandu led government, the state government has come out with a statement that the government would “not cow down to such acts of subversion”.

The government statement issued by the spokesperson Jarbom Gamlin, termed the whole issue as misleading, mischievous and one crafted with ulterior political motives of creating confusion among people.

The particular matter has been taken seriously and shall be enquired into thoroughly and the guilty shall be dealt sternly as per the provisions of law, said a statement from the government spokesperson.

The Government is relentlessly working towards the inclusive development of the entire State in equable terms and shall not keep any stone unturned in the process. It is devoted to the peace and tranquility of the State including the districts of Tirap and Changlang, the message added.

The statement appealed the media to play an even larger role in meeting the aspirations of the state through the fundamental objectives of journalism by serving the people with news, views, comments and information on matters of public interest in a fair, accurate and unbiased manner.

Legislators of the State, including those from Tirap and Changlang have re-affirmed and re-assured their strong support to the ruling Congress Government in the State under the able leadership of the chief minister Dorjee Khandu which is instrumental in launching a development revolution in the state during the last four years. The ruling government in the State is united and marching ahead to accelerate the pace of development in the state, the statement added.

It further welcomed the solidarity demonstrated by the people, civil societies, NGOs and the political parties of the State across party affiliation, towards the greater interest of the State.

It may be recalled that the NSCN (K) in an email to this daily and Assam based media houses on March 6 had called for withdrawal of support of Tirap & Changlang MLAs and ministers from the Dorjee Khandu led Congress government.

Tirap and Changlang legislators question authenticity of NSCN (K) mail

ITANAGAR, Mar 9: Ten MLAs from Tirap and Changlang wrote to the Governor appealing for highest level of investigation about the authenticity of the letter sent by NSCN (K), published in this daily and Assam based media houses, to avoid any disruption in the continuing development process and for maintaining peace and tranquility in Tirap and Changlang.

“While authenticity of the source of the letter are to be ascertained, we the elected representatives of Tirap and Changlang District feel that some politically motivated group are involved in publishing such letter taking into account the vulnerable situation in these two districts. We apprehend and have enough doubt that it is surely a handy work and political game of few politically vested interested group” it said.

Tirap and Changlang district cannot function in isolation and the elected representatives of these two districts are governed by the rules and regulations of the political party like all other legislators of the state, it said.

The reported notice to the legislators of Tirap and Changlang Districts is not at all a good sign in the democratic process and should be a matter of great concern for all. It is not all understandable why every time the leaders and the people of Tirap and Changlang are victimized and sandwiched for no fault of theirs, it said.

We would like to put forward an appeal to all sections of the society to support the peace loving people and its leaders of these two districts instead of issuing intimidating releases in the press which may be detrimental towards ushering peace in the two districts, the representation further added.

The signatories of letters are Wanglin Lowangdong, Speaker, Setong Sena, Finance Minister, Honchun Ngamdam, Horticulture Minister, parliamentary secretaries Wangki Lowang, Tinghap Taiju, Thangwang Wangham, Phosum Khimun, MLA Kamthok Lowang, Chairman, AP MD & TC Kamlung Mossang and Yumsen Matey, Chairman, DoTC.

Did they really follow the formalities?

Dear Editor,

It was shocking to learn from your daily that the district administration of Papum Pare has completed its formalities for Trans Arunachal Highway.

I would like to draw the attention of authority concerned about the inappropriate handling of compensation pertaining to the project.

Why the compensation package estimate was not prepared as per actual field condition and according the Detailed Project Report Projected of the Ministry of road Transport & Highway.

As per the EE, APPWD, NH Division, Doimukh letter addressed to the Deputy Commissioner vides his letter No. NHD/TAH/Compensation/2010-11/58-59, Dated 2nd Feb 2011 the payment has to be done as per actual quantity of work done after proper verification from the District Administration. Why the Executive Engineer, NH Division, Doimukh did not take the pain in projecting the DPR according to the practical ground condition?

Why the stretches of Pappu - Yupia- Hoj- Potin, where there is no standing structures, cultivation and other assets have been depicted in the DPR to misguide and ask for compensation from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highway?

As per the Director, Ministries of Road Transport and Highway D.O. No. 12011/34/2008/Ar.P/BRO/SARD/NE(Pt.) dated 19th March 2009 had written to the CS for properties  Identification for uniform application & determination of the compensation. Whether it has been brought to the knowledge of Director MoRTH & DoRTH by the Chief Secretary that whatever the compensation has been paid up-to-date by his officers from the Administrative and Technical departments are correct and free from all the encumbrances. If not why?

Why instead of OBT, SPT, MIBT buildings, RCC buildings with huge plinth area has been depicted in the Detailed Projected Report?

Whether district administrations is sure that they have physically verified every cases of compensation which has to be paid and whether grievances of common, poor & deprived people have been taken into account.

Why has the field survey book data immensely varies from the data for which the Compensation has been paid and does not synchronies with the field data of the respective chainages? Why at various stretches chainages has been overlapped and same stretches has been paid compensation twice over.

Why the Government Assets like Culverts, Retaining wall, electric poles, RCC posts, Pipe line, electrical units has been taken into consideration for compensation whereas the  compensation for the assets concerned has already been given to the respective heads of account of the Department.

Yours,

Goda Madu

Improve the website

Dear Editor,

The Arunachal Times is one of the favorite newspapers of the state. I would like to thank Arunachal Times team for their tremendous effort in bringing the news and events from grass root level till apex.

I would like to mention one thing that some students like me who are studying outside the state are unable to get the paper on due time so we become unaware of some of the important advertisements and notifications. Last time also my form for APCS exam was rejected because of late submission of form. So it’s my request to you to see to this matter. It will be good , if your paper include one advertisement section in your website. Not only this you can modify your site by adding some more international news and sports section etc.

In today’s internet world where everyone is trying to run ahead of time, we need to improve ourselves otherwise, we will be lagging behind and ignored.

Yours,

Never ending water crisis

Dear Editor,

I would like to highlight the problem being faced by the people of P sector, Itanagar. Arunachal Pradesh is known for abundant natural water resource but it’s been more than a one and half month; People of ‘P’ sector are facing scarcity of water.

It’s because of the massive road construction works from Rajbhawan helipad to ‘O’ Point Tinali which has affected many individuals’ properties and totally destructed the water pipe line of ‘P’ Sector.

PHE Department is not doing enough to provide water. Just imagine how a single Truck containing of 10000 litres of water could provide water to whole P sector. The problem of water is really a major one.

The aggrieved peoples of ‘P’ sector appeal to the concerned Department to take a swift action to redress the problem.

Yours,

Moushmi Bagra

Itanagar (on email)
